The Famous Artists School Course for Talented Young People is a full art study course especially developed to accomodate the needs of our younger students. The course is based on the same principles and lessons as the FAS Certificate Courses in Painting and Career Art, but created by professional educators and artists to structure the lessons for young people. This is real, professional training and expert guidance and is an ideal way for a student to create or expand his or her portfolio.

Throughout the Course, skilled professional artists guide your every step. Yet you learn right at home, in your spare time, at your own pace. When you complete an assignment, you drop it in the mailbox and go on to the next lesson. You spend just as much time as you need on each assignment. When your Instructor receives your assignment, he or she prepares suggestions and corrections and sends it back to you. The corrections, often in full color, are made on a transparent sheet over your drawing. Your Instructor also prepares and sends you a detailed letter to explain just what you must do to improve your art. If you have questions, you’ll find that the School’s counselors are always ready to offer you their guidance and help.

As you progress with this individualized guidance, your family and friends will see your improvement—and so will you. Later on, you may even want to consider going into the art field.

As a Famous Artists student, you learn from professional artists. Each instructor on our staff continues to work as an artist while he or she teaches. Their knowledge of art comes not just from textbooks and training, but from actual experience.

The Famous Artists instruction staff includes former art directors of major publications, art studios, and advertising agencies; painters who have won prizes in exhibitions and whose work has appeared in museums; commercial artists who have done work for major corporations; and illustrators and cartoonists whose work has been published in many magazines and books.

In their own work, the men and women of our instruction staff have met and solved the same problems you will find as you develop your talent. Their continuing experience enables them to keep up with the latest trends and techniques, to be familiar with the work of other artists and the needs of the art field, and to know just what skills you must master to be a good artist.

Through the School’s highly individualized teaching methods, you benefit from the professional know-how of these instructors. You will find you can depend on them for careful guidance—the kind of practical help that will develop your skills and make it possible for you to create pictures you’ll be proud of.

The Famous Artists School Course for Talented Young People includes a three-volume, fully illustrated, colorful textbook, a Study Guide with Home Projects and 10 Lesson Assignments for submission to Famous Artists School, and 10 Personal Lesson Critiques from your Famous Artists School Instructor.
