Hanoi’s exciting art scene

I just came back from a fascinating trip to Southeast Asia, including ten days in Vietnam.  We found the art scene in Hanoi to be particularly exciting, with lots of galleries showing young artists’ work, like the Mai Gallery which has several branches in the old quarter of Hanoi.  Much of the art is evocative of the people and landscape of this endlessly interesting country.

  1. everytime I see that an American has visited Viet Nam on vacation,  I can’t help wondering if they ever give it a thought about the many american MIA’s soldiers in Viet Nam or those who lost their lives.  They are someone’s son, brother, sister, wife, husband and friend who deserve to be remembered.  Today more than ever, American’s especially the younger generations and those who somehow remain untouched by the war can forget our countries soldiers.  Soldiers have no political agenda. Till today, I can’t watch a movie about Viet Nam.  I’m surprise that an artist can block out this knowledge.
I’m an artist in many fields and can only cry when i think of Viet Nam.  But then I have a heart and memories.
