FAS Alumnus: Charles Margeson

When I felt that I would like to learn to paint I discovered that I had little or no raw talent. I took a chance on Famous Artist School and found that the materials were very comprehensive and easy to understand.
The Instructors were excellent and very positive and supportive in their critiques. One that comes to mind was Charles Reid, who is now a well known artist and author.
The combination of three things made it possible for me to complete the course and gain the knowledge that I needed. First, the material as I mentioned was very good. Second was the individual instruction (Critiques), which were very beneficial (the instructors made me feel that they were really in there pulling for me). Third was the fact that I stuck to it and finished the course. This last part was the most difficult because I was married and had a young family. My wife was very supportive and the result was that I have been a working artist for many years and very glad that I took a chance on Famous Artists School.
In short, Famous Artist School gave me the fundamental knowledge and skills that made it possible for me to become a working artist. The encouragement given me by the instructors at the school as well as that of my wife made it possible for me to go on to study with several artists in the Boston area.
I am a juries member of the Copley Society of Boston, I have since taught at Northern Essex Community College, The Essex Art Center In Lawrence, MA, and I have my own art gallery and studio where I teach two weekly classes to adults and children.
