Famous Artists School in Japan
Since 1967, Famous Artists School has had an active and enthusiastic partner in Japan Kodansha Famous Schools. Shoichi Noma, the visionary president of Kodansha Ltd., one of the largest publishing companies in Japan, learned of the Famous Artists School method for quality art instruction by correspondence. President Noma believed that Japanese students would be very eager to study art using the Famous Artists School approach to distance learning. A subsidiary company, Kodansha Famous Schools, was formed; artist-instructors and administrators from
Japan visited the Famous Schools headquarters in Connecticut, and American artist-instructors went to Japan to help set up the systems and procedures for lesson critiques and student services. Over the years, the success of Kodansha Famous Schools, and its many active alumni and students, have proved the value of President Noma's vision. The partnership between Famous Artists School USA and Kodansha Famous Schools has been synergistic and productive, resulting in the publishing of many new and expanded materials and advanced instructional techniques. Kodansha Ltd., under the leadership of President Sawako Noma, continues to guide and support the activities of Kodansha Famous Schools. Each year, Kodansha Famous Schools holds an Art Contest for its graduates and current students. This year, almost 3000 works of art were submitted. The Grand Prix a trip to the
United States is sponsored by Famous Schools USA and its parent company, Cortina Learning International, Inc. Click here to visit the website of Kodansha Famous Schools (KFS):www.kfsnet.co.jp
